As Halloween approaches it's time to shed our carefully crafted summer bods, and dig into to delicious sweets. Personally, one sweet that always kills us is chocolate. Frequently our staff is munching on yummy chocolate treats throughout the day. Can't stop, won't stop.
One of our favorite things to do is combine two things we love, so when we came across this recipe from Taste of Home we had to try it. We swapped out the Guinness for our personal favorite, Trend Bucker, and the result? One of the best desserts our staff has ever tasted.
Check out the recipe below and let us know what you think in the comments!
- 1 can of Trend Bucker Stout
- 1/2 cup of cubed butter
- 2 cups of white sugar
- 3/4 cup of fair trade baking cocoa
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup of sour cream
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups of white flour
- 1 teaspoons baking soda
- 8 ounces of softened cream cheese
- 1 cup of confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
Stage 1: Prepare
Preheat the oven to 350°. Grease your 9 inch pan and line the bottom of it with parchment paper.
Stage 2: Mixing
In a saucepan, heat the beer and butter until the butter is 100 percent melted. Once melted remove the butter/beer mix from the stove and whisk in sugar and cocoa until everything is blended together. Combine the eggs, vanilla and sour cream; and quickly whisk into beer mixture. Combine baking soda and flour; and whisk into the beer mixture until smooth. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
Stage 3: Baking
Bake at 350° for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out nice and clean. Carefully cool completely on a wire rack once done.
Stage 4: Decorating and Serving.
In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy, and then add the sugar and cream and beat until smooth. Remove the cake from the pan ice top of cake, and serve with...a cool frothy Trend Bucker.
